Not Without My Daughter

by Betty  Mahmoody

A true story.
Betty, an American woman, is married to an Iranian doctor. They are happy in the States but their harmony becomes destroyed by some vacation days in his Iranian homeland. Through the influence of his Muslim family Moody turns into a completely different man, full of brutality power. He forces Betty and their daughter Mahtab to stay in the Iran.
Betty Mahmoody describes her ugly life so clear that one wishes her to be helpful to escape out of this terrible country.
I read the book long time ago, before it appeared as a movie. Although a phantastic Sally Field the movie wasn't able to touch in any way the exciting story of the book or the horrible life Betty and her daughter had to go through.

My Valuation:
This is a kind of book that should belong to the dowry of every mixed cultured couple.
